Revolution heeft hele leuke mede-antropologen en kreeg de kans om mee te gaan naar een studentmeeting en lezing met Kishore Mahbubani, een grote Aziatische intellectueel die in Nederland vooral bekend is vanwege zijn controversiële boek ‘The New Asian Hemisphere: The Irresistible Shift of Global Power to the East’.

In the world of tomorrow you have to deal with several cultures. Europe has to walk away from all the single culture clubs and invest in multicultural clubs, that’s what you can learn from Asia.”

60 jaar geleden is de Universele Verklaring voor de Rechten van de Mens aanvaard door de VN. Nu, 60 jaar later, kunnen we rustig zeggen dat ook deze Verklaring minder universeel is dan we zouden willen.
Hoezo dominantie van het Westerse denken?!
Mooie oproep om onze comfortzone te verlaten en verder te kijken dan ons eigen normen- en waardenstelsel.
